Learn to Row – Coastal Edition
Ever wanted to row on the open sea? Our Learn to Row – Coastal Edition is the perfect place to start! These fun and friendly 5-session courses are designed for complete beginners and take place right on Folkestone’s stunning Sunny Sands beach.
You’ll learn to row in our super-stable glide boats, built to handle waves and give you the confidence to explore coastal sculling safely. Across the course, you’ll cover everything from basic rowing technique and boat handling to launching through small waves and gliding across the water like a pro.
If the weather gets wild (as it sometimes does by the coast!), don’t worry — we’ll simply roll your session to the following week so no one misses out.

Cost: £99 for the full 5-session course
This includes your British Rowing membership, giving you access to insurance cover, training resources, and a gateway into the wider rowing community.
By the end of the course, you’ll be able to join our friendly club sessions and take your skills further — whether that’s leisurely paddles, fitness rows, or racing in our exciting Beach Sprint events.
To take part, you’ll need to:

Be able to swim confidently in open water

Have a sense of adventure and a love of the sea!
No previous rowing experience needed — just bring enthusiasm, some comfy kit you don’t mind getting a little salty, and we’ll handle the rest.
