THE START
Run down the beach approx 50m to your assigned boat – this will be stroke seat in a double, and the cox seat in a quad.

BOAT ENTRY
Get in the boat, which is held in the water by 2 boathandlers, in rough conditions 3 boat handlers may be allowed. Boat handlers are an essential part of the crew, helping rowers get a fast start.

ROW
Row out and slalom around the buoys until you reach the buoy at the top of the course. Then, make a 180-degree turn & row 250m straight back.

BOAT EXIT
Bow seat – Get out of your boat when the water is shallow enough, start your run.

THE FINISH
Run up the sand (10-50m depending on tide) and hit the button on the finish line first. This is often very close and dramatic!
